Modernization Project Manager – United Parcel Service (UPS), USA Took over a high-visibility modernization program mid-stride and quickly got control of the conversion of 282 Java/EJB screens into responsive Angular 10 interfaces for UPS's Global Timecard System - a compliance-driven program with a hard Thanksgiving deadline and weekly health reports going straight to UPS VP-level leadership. Revalidated the scope and cost-to-deliver assumptions for the 282-screen program, identified significant complexity the original estimate had missed, and built the evidence and delivery rationale that secured a client-funded expansion from 54,994 to 104,000 hours. Redesigned the delivery and capacity model into 3 staggered workstreams, scaling the team from 25 to 80+ resources across front-end, Java, UX, testing, and CI/CD disciplines spread across Indian cities. Put in place a twice-daily MS Project scheduling discipline, tracking 600–700 tasks per iteration (~2,000 tasks total): a nightly update to capture completions, spot assignment gaps, and pre-assign the next day's work, and a midday update to absorb real-time surprises, absences, and delays - so every team member always had clearly defined work. Used demand-based onboarding, deployment, and release planning to claw back an inherited ~10% budget overrun (~10,400 hours of idle resource cost), keep the closeout team lean, and finish the program within the revised 104,000-hour commercial baseline.
